Vtg Japanese Haori Himo Kimono Accessory
This is a Japanese vintage haori himo made of carved bamboo beads dyed a deep indigo blue on the edges with natural bamboo peeking through. There are two strands wound around one another accented with gold beads and gold metal clasps. It comes in the original paper box without a lid.
A haori himo is a decorative cord, chain, or string that holds the kimono's haori (jacket) closed and in position. There is a string tie type, a type of glass ball passed through a braided cord, and recently a magnetic type. They attach to the haori via loops at on the jacket's collar using small clasps or hooks.
This piece was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
