Vintage Japanese Wooden Decorative Plaque
This vintage Japanese wooden souvenir plaque features the calligraphy of the famous hot spring Dogo-onsen in Ehime on the island of Shikoku. It has calligraphy on the back. This plaque has a bell and a red and white braided cord.
Ema is a small wooden plaque used at Shinto shrines, and sometimes Buddhist temples, that worshipers can write their wishes, hopes, and dreams on. Once written, it is hung on a special wooden stand or tree where the kami (spirits or gods) are thought to receive them.
