Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Orin Bell
This is a large vintage Japanese orin bell for Buddhist altars. It contains a small bronze bowl with a gold silk fabric-covered wooden striker. It rests on a platform-type pillow in the shape of a flower. The pillow consists of red, pink, beige, white, orange, and green silk. Singing bowls are sounded during ritual prayer.
Orin bell sound can reach the Buddha in the Pure Land. It is also used to ward off people's evil spirits and convey prayers to the Buddha, ancestors, and the deceased through sound.
