Vintage Japanese Resin Bento Lunch Box
This is a Japanese vintage resin bento lunch box, or jubako. Round and colored red and black, this bento box has two different-sized tiers with a lid. The lid is decorated with painted gold leaves and vines and three large peony flowers. The flowers have dark red or dark purple brush strokes to add more color. The bottom tier can fit inside the top tier for storage. While it can be used for small meals, it can also be used as a sweets container, or kashiki for sencha and tea ceremonies.
This was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
