Vintage Japanese Standing Ouchi Lantern for Obon Festival w/Box
This is a vintage Japanese electric Ouchi lantern. Ouchi lanterns are standing lanterns with three legs that are displayed during the summer Obon festival to commemorate ancestors. The woven fiber lantern with a reflective plastic middle section is white and has an elegant design of blue flowers including bellflowers (kikyo) and fits snuggly on its black plastic frame with gold and green floral designs. It fits semi-flat in its original box. It has an electric light with a plastic blue covering that spins when the lightbulb becomes warm. There are blue tassels on the bottom as well as two long blue tassels that hang from the top piece.
