Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Rice Container
This is a vintage lidded Japanese rice container. Round and coated with a classic glossy black lacquer on the outside and red on the inside, this dish is used to hold rice/mixed rice during a kaiseki set meal. Due to its compact size, yet generous volume, it makes an excellent bento box as well. The lid features a red fish jumping out of water.
This was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya, Japan
