Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Drink Saucers

This is a five-piece set of vintage Japanese wooden lacquered drink saucers/coasters, or chataku. Stained a medium brown and brushed with a clear matte lacquer coating, this easily stackable set is a simple, classic style. This particular set is lightweight and made of yakusugi, a Japanese cedar tree commonly found on the island of Yakushima. It has an indentation at the center to keep a cup from slipping off.
