Japanese Hina Doll Furniture Pair of Chests
This is a pair of Japanese vintage Hina doll furniture pieces called hasamibako (traveling chest/clothes chest). They are larger than most pieces of their kind and painted in black lacquer with gold makie designs of peony flowers and vines. There is an orange braided silk cord with tassels on each. Thin metal pieces are used to decorate the front corners and edges as well. The small hardware is made of same material. They can be opened.
