Antique Japanese Hina Doll Wooden Goten Palace
This stunning and rare antique Japanese piece is a goten palace used to display a royal court of traditional Hina dolls for the Girl's Day holiday. It is made of wood and lacquered with an array of vibrant colors. With handcrafted wooden structural pieces and hand-painted panels, this gorgeous dollhouse is assembled almost like a puzzle. All the pieces sit naturally upon one another or attach via wire pegs. It comes disassembled in the original wooden box, and all pieces, minus the dolls, appear to be included.
The Hinamatsuri (Doll's Festival) in Japan is a traditional event celebrated on March 3rd every year. Its purpose is primarily to wish girls healthy growth and happiness. Hina dolls are an essential part of the Festival and are prominently displayed in homes and businesses during April and early May.

- Good condition considering age. Some pieces of the underside of roof have broken off (collected in plastic bag), byobu screens on back wall have a couple holes on back side, scratches and wear on lacquer paint from use. Wooden box has some damage around edges. Wear and tear due to age.
