Japanese Paper Uchiwa Fan
This is a Japanese paper fan or Uchiwa. Uchiwa is a traditional fan tool typically made of wood or bamboo and paper in a flat paddle-like shape. This particular fan is called "fukakusa", a unique style of fan characterized by its tall and narrow shape. It features red and blue morning glories in full bloom along with a furin wind bell, both images associated with summer. The image is printed on a white sheet on the back side, then a sheet of translucent washi paper was adhered to the front, giving it a frosted look.
