Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Drink Saucers

This is a vintage Japanese wooden lacquered drink saucer/coaster, or chataku. Coated with a deep brown, almost black, this piece is a simple and classic style. There are kanji characters printed onto the back side that read "Higashi Honganji Temple." It has an indentation at the center to keep a cup from slipping off.
