::Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl

This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl or matcha chawan. It is red, gold, and beige. It features Iris and a Japanese poem, Tanka by Ariwara no Narihira in the Heian era.  A temple name is also painted near the poem, and that temple is famous for iris flowers.

Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
