Antique Japanese Koimari Porcelain Bowl

This is an antique Japanese porcelain soup bowl (Hachi).  It has a blue Sometsuke floral pattern and in the middle of the bowl has a picture of a white flower and a bird is drawn on it. This is an octagonal shape bowl.  There are goma (sesame spots and dust marks) on the plate. The marks of sesame and dust are the places where the ash fell when it was fired in the kiln. The age of the pottery can be roughly understood by looking at the bottom. From the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji period, it was made using a manufacturing method that did not apply glaze to the bottom so that it would not stick to the kiln. It is called Janome Koudai because it looks like a snake's eye.
