Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Flower Vase
This is a bronze metal flower vase, hanatate, for Buddhist altars. It is common to offer a range of seasonal and symbolic flowers in front of a Buddhist altar. It is also a vessel for Sakaki leaves or Shashagi leaves in Shinto. The meaning of offering sakaki tree leaves is that the gods living in the sakaki tree will protect the grave and the soul. This particular vase has a classic shape with no added embellishments or designs.
