Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Noh Mask Wall Hanging
This is a vintage Japanese wooden noh mask (noh-men) attached to a thin wooden board. This character is the face of a jealous female demon (hannya). Hannya is characterized by two pointed horns, an open mouth with sharp teeth, and round (often painted gold) eyes. It symbolizes jealousy and resentment and is applied to female characters when angry. This mask is lacquered red with golden horns, eyes, and teeth, and black hair. It has a clear brushed lacquer panel of wood behind it for extra decoration and is held on by a string. It can be used for all kinds of home and office decor.
