Vtg Japanese Tool Hand Rabbet Plane Waki Kanna w/ 17mm blade
Details: This is a handmade steel and wood Wakitori Kanna or Side Rabbet plane tool from Japan. They are made of hardwood, usually Japanese white or red oak. The laminated steel and iron blade is stout compared to western planes. Tapered in length and thickness the plane blade is its own wedge as it fits into a correspondingly shaped mortice in the body of the plane. Japanese woodworking tools are highly sought after because after Samurai swords were banned in Japan, these highly skilled sword makers turned their attention and their centuries of experience into crafting these exquisite planes. Although this piece is a bit aged, it should be a nice addition to your tool chest.
