Vtg Japanese Kokeshi Doll Handmade Ornament Figurine

This is a Noroma doll, a local folk craft from Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture. During the Keicho era, Kanbei Noromatsu drifted from Osaka to Sado Island. He starts making dolls out of pine wood. Later, paulownia dolls and clay dolls were produced. Each doll has a unique facial expression that will make you smile.
