Vintage Japanese Wooden Storage Box for Stamps
Wooden boxes are a common method of safely keeping and storing delicate pottery, vases, and other ceramic, clay, and glass items in Japan. In addition to pottery, they are also widely used for a plethora of other traditional Japanese crafts including kimono accessories, wrapping cloths, chopsticks, commemorative gifts, etc.
This dark brown vintage wooden storage box with a hatch lid is likely made for a set of hanko/inkan name stamps. It has two compartments inside, one is likely for a stamp ink pad. It has simple metal hardware. This was likely used in a school or office and repurposed later. It can also be used for general storage of trinkets or use for display or other crafts/projects.

- Good condition considering age. Scratches and discolorations. Finish is missing in some places. Stamp marks all over lid and inside. Wear and tear due to age. Please see the photos carefully.
