Vintage Japanese Wooden Decorative Plaque

This vintage Japanese wooden plaque features a picture of a yellow and black tiger on a white and red bamboo background. It has a purple braided cord. This panel is in a style similar to ema plaque found in shrines although it is not.

Ema is a small wooden plaque used at Shinto shrines, and sometimes Buddhist temples, that worshipers can write their wishes, hopes, and dreams on. Once written, it is hung on a special wooden stand or tree where the kami (spirits or gods) are thought to receive them.
