Vintage Japanese Katagami of Traditional Zen or Palace Garden w/ Wood Frame
In a simple brown wood frame, this katagami textile stencil made from mulberry paper displays the image of a traditional zen or palace garden. The top of a stone lantern is prominent in the foreground at the bottom and a pond can be seen through the trees.
While katagami is typically used for printing images on fabrics such as kimono, it has become a popular item to frame and or further decorate for wall art. As such, its intricate designs made by hand-cutting the paper make it an eye-catching piece to use in home and office decor.
The katagami is adhered to a fibrous backing paper.
