Vintage Japanese Wagasa Umbrella
Whether paired with a beautiful kimono or in the hands of an elegant Geisha, Japanese traditional umbrellas (wagasa) are a popular fashion accessory as well as an eye-catching home decor piece.
Simple in design, this wagasa parasol is made with black and brown paper. The headpiece at the very top is gray silk and yellow vinyl fabric with a metal topper that has a loop on the end. The inner frame is tied together with green string. The handle is made of slender natural bamboo with white vinyl cord and metal cap. Closed, the outer ribs create colorful banding designs (yellow, black, and brown lacquer. Red and white dot pattern).
