Japanese Maigasa Umbrella
Whether paired with a beautiful kimono or in the hands of an elegant Geisha, Japanese traditional umbrellas (wagasa) are a popular fashion accessory as well as an eye-catching home decor piece.
Using a spiraling, winding white vine pattern, this umbrella is covered with ocean blue and white colored paper. The headpiece at the very top is a lacquered black cap. The outer ribs are painted with black lacquer to match. The handle is made of slender bamboo with a metal stopper pin. This item is unique in that it has a shorter overall width and longer handle than most.

- Good condition considering age. Lacquer is cracking/chipped. HSmall tears in paper have been previously mended with tape on the inside as well as sewn (stitching can be seen on the outside). Some staining around joints. Some tears. Opens and closes well.
