Vintage Japanese Noh Mask w/ Wooden Box
This is a vintage Japanese decorative folk mask inspired by Noh theater. This wooden hand-carved mask represents an oni (demon or ogre) with black, red, and gold lacquer. It has cut eye and nose holes and can be worn with a brown cord at the back. There is also a black loop at the top for simple hanging. It has two long locks of blond hair. This mask was designed and crafted by master craftsman Ichiryu Kajiwara in Saga Prefecture on the Japanese island of Kyushu. It is a stunning decorative piece but can be used for performance as well (used in Saga Menburyu performances). It comes in its original wooden box that ties around the middle with a flat brown cord.
