Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Bento Box
This is a Japanese vintage lacquered wooden bento box, also called jubako. Characteristic of its ripple-like patterns and coppery brown color, this box is coated with a unique lacquer technique called wakasa. The insides of the box are a bright red color. There are 4 tiers to this box, two of which are similar in size, and the other two one deeper and one shallow. It comes with a lid and a black lacquered base with a handle for easy carrying.
This was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
