Vintage Japanese Lacquered Bamboo Serving Tray
This is a vintage Japanese bamboo tray, or obon, typically used for serving drinks and or snacks to guests in one's home, business, etc. This is an exquisite example of rantai, a type of lacquerware that coats woven bamboo items (trays/bowls/baskets/etc) in typically a dark-colored lacquer. This large, lightweight oval tray is black with tiny red accents and has two easy-to-hold handles.
