Vintage Japanese Large Bamboo Uchiwa
This is a Japanese vintage paper fan or Uchiwa. Uchiwa is a traditional fan tool typically made of wood or bamboo and paper in a flat paddle-like shape. This particular fan is very large and likely used for performances, at festivals, or for general decoration. The frame and handle are made of bamboo and the paper is coated in a red and black lacquer with the kanji character for gold (kin) prominently in the center. The back side has no design.
