Vintage Japanese Clay Bell Dorei
This is a pair of vintage Japanese clay bells or dorei. Representing the animals of the zodiac, these bells are in the shape of a tiger. They are bright orange with classic black stripes. It has a small bright orange clay ball inside and a braided red string tied at the top. A wooden stand and a sign are included.
Dorei bells have a long history and have been used in festivals and ceremonies since the Jomon period (about 13000 to 2300 years ago) when they were said to have the power to ward off evil spirits.
