Vtg Japanese Ceramic Teapot
This is a large vintage Japanese ceramic teapot/kettle, or kyusu. It has a blue-green glaze (like celadon) with an unglazed inside and bottom. The handle is made of bent bamboo and secured through loops with thin woven and string (repair). It has a large spout for smooth pouring. This is an excellent ceramic option for hanging in a traditional irori hearth. There is a stamp on the side that alludes to this piece potentially being crafted by Momoda Hikaru.
Kyusu teapots come in a few shapes, the most common being ones with a handle crafted into the side. They are typically smaller than western teapots as Japanese tea is typically served in smaller quantities and often steeped multiple times in one service.
