Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is mostly a soft red color with misty bursts of white, brown, and black. This piece is in the raku style. It has a smooth, ribbed texture. It is sturdy and easy to handle. This shape of this bowl is called hantsutsu-gata, which is a bowl that has a flat bottom and vertical sides in a half-cylindrical shape.
Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
