Vtg Japanese Ceramic Ox Zodiac Decoration
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic figurine of an ox in a pale green color mimicking jade. The figurine has a crackle glaze. It comes with a red wooden stand and a wooden sign with Japanese characters on it. This set comes in a paper box.
Ox, or ushi, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
