Vtg Japanese Ceramic Green Tea Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic green tea bowl, or matcha chawan. It is gray with a thick white brush stroke on the outside edge with white woven pattern and simple flowers on the inside. This piece is a simple example of mishima ware. It has a grainy texture. This bowl is signed with a stamped mark on the bottom. It is sturdy and easy to handle. This shape of this bowl is called hatazori-gata, which is a tea bowl with a lip curving outward like a tulip.
Green tea bowls are traditionally used for preparing and drinking green tea during tea ceremonies but can be used in many scenes of modern everyday life.
