Vtg Japanese Ceramic Sheep Zodiac Decoration
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic figurine of a sitting sheep. It has a light blue celadon glaze and a simplistic style with plum blossoms on the sides. It has a hole at the top that can be used as a pen holder or even as a tiny flower vase.
Sheep, or hitsuji, is one of the twelve signs of Japanese Zodiac (Junishi). There is a sign for each year and a full cycle is repeated after 12 years. It is common to display the year's sign in the entrance or in the living room in Japan.
