Japanese Uchishiki Embroidered Buddhist Altar Tablecloth
This is a vintage Japanese Buddhist altar tablecloth Uchishiki. It has embroidered with a phoenix pattern. Sects other than the Jodo Shinshu sect (Jodo sect, Nichiren sect, Soto sect, Shingon sect, etc.) use the square uchishiki. Decorate on the upper table (Maejyoku) and the front table (Uwajyoku) in the Buddhist altar during events such as New Year's Day, the equinoctial week, Obon, and memorial services.
