Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku W/ Wooden Box

This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) features a sansui (mountains and river) landscape. It features a red Mount Fuji in the background and a river with a waterfall and a bridge in the foreground. In the center of the piece, there are some old houses. This piece is signed by an artist Seiho. It is stored in a wooden box with paper packaging. On the box, it says Shishin Akafuji meaning four gods and red mount Fuji.

Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake has Zen words used in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
