Vintage Chinese Inkstone Suzuri
This is a lidded Chinese inkstone, suzuri, used for grinding sumi and holding ink. It is a necessary tool in calligraphy (shodo) and traditional penmanship (shuji). It is made of a grayish black stone. The lid displays a Chinese border pattern as well as a detailed dragon image.
