Vtg Japanese Buddhist Altar Fitting Rennyo Monshu Icon
This is a Japanese vintage fabric and paper hanging scroll representing Rennyo Monshu, or left Owakigake. It is an icon displayed in Japanese Buddhist home altars, Butsudan. It is a powerful religious image, aimed to be at the center of an altar. This Owakigake is god and dark blue with red accents. It is embellished with metal parts on the top and bottom and it is signed on the back. Actually, Owakigake consists of a pair of scrolls: one on the right of the Amida Buddha icon, and one on the left.
