Vtg Japanese Pottery Sake Bottle Kayoi-Tokkuri w/Lid

This is a vintage Japanese porcelain/ceramic sake bottle. It is called a Kayoi-Tokkuri and is used to store and serve sake. The commuting sake bottle became popular as a rental container for liquor stores in the Edo period when sake began to be consumed on a daily basis.
This particular rare sake bottle is large and has a unique barrel shape. The materials alone when it was made can be estimated to be around ¥20000 and was likely made for ceremonial purposes. It is mostly white. The loops at the top on the sides have a ridged stripe pattern and the hole at the very bottom is the shape of a swirled plum blossom. The porcelain lid is unique in that it has a beautifully crafted chrysanthemum flower (kiku) covering the whole thing. This is truly a one-of-a-kind find and an excellent statement piece.
