Vtg Japanese Ceramic Lipped Bowl
This is a vintage Japanese ceramic lipped bowl, or katakuchi. It has a light green crackled glaze and is adorned with pictures of round coins with a square hole in the center. These pictures are black or reddish brown. This lipped bowl is embellished with gold color foil on the edge and on the design. It is a colorful yet elegant and delicate piece.
This type of lipped small bowls is called katakuchi. They are traditional bowls now used as sauce pitchers and condiment bowls. They can also be used during Tea Ceremony to serve matcha.
