Japanese Buddhist Costume Sash
This Japanese Buddhist costume surplice (wagesa or hangesa) is worn around the neck. It is yellow with a dark blue geometric pattern. There is a gold kamon (crest) on each side as well as behind the neck, and a red seal, likely from a temple, on the inside of the fold. This type of sash is called kataginu and can be worn when appearing in front of the Buddha, and during services and ceremonies. This item comes in a paper box.
