Japanese Maigasa Umbrella w/ Fabric Case

Whether paired with a beautiful kimono or in the hands of an elegant Geisha, Japanese traditional umbrellas (wagasa) are a popular fashion accessory as well as an eye-catching home decor piece. Maigasa, in particular, are used for performance by dancers.
This vintage Japanese umbrella is covered in thick washi paper in a banded pattern of white and blue. The headpiece at the very top is a lacquered black cap. The outer ribs are painted with black lacquer to match. The handle is made of bamboo painted black with a metal stopper pin and a beige resin plastic coil handle. This item is unique in that it has a shorter overall width and longer handle than most. As a plus, this umbrella comes with a purple fabric case.
