Antique Japanese Porcelain Lidded Bento Box

This is an antique Japanese porcelain 3-tiered rounded square bento box, or jubako, with a rounded top lid. It is a striking indigo blue on white (sometsuke) and features an ages-old pine tree beside the sea. At the base of the tree is a group of cranes with a few flying overhead. The bottom tier has simply shaped arches to make four legs and add visual interest.
