 Japanese Traditional Footwear Straw Sandals

These are Japanese vintage woven straw sandals called warazori/waraji. These sandals are crafted from weaving dried rice straw into a simple oval shape. Some include other material such as cloth, leather, or lacquered wood. Warazori/waraji have been a popular type of footwear since ancient times and are said to be lightweight and non-slip in mud and don't splash in water.
This pair is mostly straw with a decorative teal, blue, and pink silk fabric around the thong. These are likely made the be worn by women or children with casual kimono or yukata.
