Vtg Japanese Haori Himo Kimono Accessory
This is a Japanese vintage braided silk haori himo. One of many different styles of kumihimo cords, this pair of cords are mostly a bright orange color with one white edge each and very subtle gold accents woven in a stripe pattern. These two pieces would be tied in a traditional-style knot for decorative appeal.
A haori himo is a decorative cord, chain, or string that holds the kimono's haori (jacket) closed and in position. There is a string cord tie type, a type of glass ball passed through a braided cord, and recently a magnetic type. They attach to the haori via loops at on the jacket's collar using small clasps or hooks.
This piece was purchased at the famous Osu Antique Market in Nagoya
