Vintage Japanese Kutani Porcelain Tea Cooling Bowl
This vintage Japanese Kutani porcelain tea cooling bowl. This piece is beautifully painted with images of flowers (peonies), a bird, and a group of old men with a paper document. The colors are rich, and you can feel the layers of paint. This type of cup/bowl is used in part of a traditional yunomi tea set. It is used to pour freshly brewed tea into to allow it to cool before pouring it into cups for guests. It has a subtle spout on one side of the rim and a small lifted edge to rest a thumb when pouring.
