Vtg Japanese Clay Doll Statue Ningyo
This is a vintage Japanese clay doll Tsuchi-Ningyo. This is one of the two Takasago dolls, an old woman with a broom. It is a lucky charm of longevity and marital harmony. Clay dolls are local traditional crafts that have been made nationwide since the Edo period. Lucky charms such as warding off sickness and disasters, bringing good luck, bountiful harvests, and prosperous business. There are many kinds, such as Girl's Day dolls, Boy's Day dolls, Samurai warriors, geisha, princesses, etc...
