Antique Japanese Lacquered Wooden Sake Barrel
This is an antique Japanese tsunodaru sake barrel. Used for celebratory events (such as weddings), this unique cask is lacquered red with large black kanji characters on the sides. This barrel is made much like other traditional buckets. It consists of individually cut pieces of wood held together via tension by seven twisted bamboo rings lacquered in black around the base. It has an opened hole on the top to facilitate pouring the sake as well as matching red lacquered plug.
