Antique Japanese Nanbu Tekki Cast Iron Kettle
This is an antique Japanese miniature Nambu tekki cast iron kettle, or Tetsubin. It has a textured design on the outside with subtle banding and a simple handle. The handle is movable, and the lid is heavy and has a decorative floral finial ball at the top.
Tetsubin began to be used in tea ceremonies in the late Edo period. Efficacy: Boiling water in an iron kettle makes the water milder and tastier, as well as providing iron to nourish the body.
