Vintage Japanese Lacquered Wooden Serving Tray, Aizu-Nuri Obon 

This is a vintage lacquered wood serving tray, or obon. This Aizu-Nuri black tray is a rounded rectangle with raised sides. The tray features a gold Makie of flowers and leaves, and one flower is made with Raden or shell inlay.  It comes with the original paper box.
Obon (serving trays) are typically used for serving drinks and snacks to guests in one's home, business, etc. They provide both function and beautiful decor.
