Vintage Japanese Ceramic Suiban for Ikebana Flower Arrangement
This is a vintage ceramic Japanese flower vase, or suiban. This piece is a round bowl shape with a wide mouth and flat bottom. The inside is a matte gold color while the outside is black. Overall, it is very simple and elegant and the perfect choice to dress up any ikebana arrangement.
Suiban means "water tray" and typically houses the spiked weight (kenzan) that hold ikebana flower stems in place, but can also be used as a base for a flower pot, or even a potted bonsai.
