cintage Japanese Ceramic Lidded Bowl
This is a Japanese vintage ceramic bowl with a lid, mushiwan. Mushiwan is used when cooking chawanmushi, steamed egg custard. It can also be used as a presentation dish for smaller meal elements during kaiseki dining or can be used as a lidded teacup.
This mostly gray piece has painted white plum blossom trees and green maple leaves on both the sides of the cup and on the lid. It has a signature on the bottom (大山).
